Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over)" is a 1966 hit single written and produced by Holland–Dozier–Holland and released as a single by the Four Tops on the Motown label. The single talks of a man who refuses to believe that his longtime love is leaving him for another man after hearing gossip from neighbors (in this case, Four Tops members Renaldo "Obie" Benson, Abdul "Duke" Fakir and Lawrence Payton) about the woman leaving him behind his back.

This song is one of several that bring back memories of my Youth Club's trip to The Odeon Birmingham to see the Four Tops around 1973. It rekindles the euphoria of dancing in the aisles and singing along to the songs with your mates - a great high without the help of alcohol or drugs - just the magic of Levi Stubbs and co.

I just saw the Four Tops perform with the Temptations. The Four Tops actually put on a better show. I would recommend to anyone to go see them perform in concert if you have a chance. This was my favorite song from the concert.

Levi Stubbs was a truly accomplished vocal-lead artist who shared his amazing baritone sound for the ages and which surely continues to inspire!
