@wwwleo1 Well, I;m pretty sure you already got an answer for for your Q but for others to know, this is UV mapping which is basically fixing the coordinates of the map so that a texture fits perfectly well without distortions. Sometime you see in games characters, objects and whatnot with textures that are a bit stretch or compress. That is due because of poor UV mapping. Always remember that UV mapping is as important as the model and texture itself, it can break or make the game experience.
thank god, i thought my character's topology was wrong when i saw the checkered texture like this.
