I believe the "interference" use of music is done on purpose: it challenges your ability to focus and forces you to make some kind of effort to obtain the informations you need instead of absorbing blindly. Questioning the mass media aesthetics where everything is laying pre-masticated is related to the perception we have of the world because it is constantly moulding our senses!
