Fire, Downtown Bozeman, March 5, 2009

I was taking my daughter to school when we heard on the radio that a gas explosion had occurred downtown and that a fire was raging. After we confirmed that it was safe for her to go to school, I dropped her off and then shot this footage from Babcock St. looking north towards Boodles restaurant and the Rocking R bar, both of which are apparently destroyed. I felt the explosion at around 8 , it rattled my kitchen cabinets! I really hope no one was hurt....

There are no official casualties yet, but I heard from my wife that one of the business owners is unaccounted for. I drive by there almost every morning and there is always at least one person out sweeping snow or walking a dog. Considering the power of the blast, if anyone was remotely near the center, they did not make it.

I hope everyone is safe and there are no injuries! I went to college here - The Rockin R Bar was such a great place to hang - wasn't pickel barrel in there also?

Yes it was. All the business between the Rug Gallery and Legion are destroyed.

i was on my school bus when this happened. then i got to school and my first teacher had found out about this and showed us pictures that had already been taken and posted on the internet. I was kinda freaked cus my mom sometimes drives that way to get to work. thank god it wasn't a REALLY bad explosion.

when i first saw this i thought china was coming after us or somin

this reminds me of 1968 Richmond, IN when a sporting goods store in that town had a gas leak and with the gun powder in the basement destroyed the downtown of Richmond.

RIP to the one person, miraculously, that died in this, a good friend of a friend.

I'm still baffled by the lack of deaths, injuries or traffic. Tho' one buddy was thrown to a wall, while working across the street.
