i very much agree. anything to highlight the gender binary doesn't settle all too well with me. and I feel like these women only spaces only add to this. i would very much rather see spaces in which women were highlighted and/or empowered and anyone who believes in this mission is welcome to attend.

i think that setting womens groups up as a separate entity just highlights the whole gender binary. And,at least in my experience, lots of these womens groups are, although well-meaning, rather superficial and dont discuss womens empowerment in depth. wed be better of focussing on getting male, female and trans identified people to interact as a collective itd be a much more empowering process and do more for the womens movement than this separatist ideal.
