Double Dragon Genesis!

Ballistic Software's rare (back in the day) port of the original Double Dragon for the Sega Genesis (1992). A fairly accurate port of the arcade brawler that "started it all." It's actually somewhat faster and more challenging than the original, but with poor sound effects (if only they'd used a 24 meg cartridge like Streets of Rage 3!) and fewer colors. I'm not the greatest player ever (you can give yourself up to 36 lives if you need a confidence boost, 18 each for a two player game), and I've only owned the cartridge for a short time (being more used to the arcade version), but it's worth your while if you're a coin-op brawler fan like me!

Special thanks to users like macromi for inspiring me!

  • @mrteemumilto they all look different. in structure the 8bit sega version is closer to the genesis, as both are trying to re-create the arcade version pretty much every port of every game in the series, other than the ones on the nintendo platforms, tried to do this. Nintendo just had tradwest or whomever create their own game with the characters and some loosely parallel scenarios, I guess. the art in the master system version looks like an upgraded version of the NES's in my opinion

  • 4:05 moonwalk exit hahaha

  • @vadont listen the boss music, is a pain. LOL

  • These guys are difficult. They fight with more intelligence. They try to wait to move in for a beat down. Oh, the groups...they love them. I see the challenge. I see why there is the temptation to use cheats and codes.

  • @rahnyc4 Not on all of the Genesis games.....but the music on this version of the game is really bad.

  • This looks great! I don't know why people bash the Genesis version of DD.

  • @PeromyscusLeucopus yeah I heard that. us players didn't get that extra feature.
