    To be honest, I don't think it's really that stupid; except, the films never go into any detail about what midichlorians are, whether they are responsible for the Force or whether they simply facilitate it, or why they choose to form a bond with bipedal humanoids. It would be interesting to find out more about what the Force was, and how it works, but Lucas was too busy writing racist cartoon characters and slapstick gags.

    so by prequel logic, the end of jedi is a real downer. it's implied that leia has a future as a jedi--but she loves han, and love is forbidden for no reason, so i guess it's just a matter of time till she becomes the next vader and we have to do this all over again
