Does the M1 need and adapter attached to the end of the barrel to hold enough gas in to cycle the weapon? Or is there a valve allowing the gas to be shut off and the action worked by hand?

Not the best firing party I've seen.. you need to look at 8th and I A Co. 2nd Platoon back in 81-84.. then you will see the best.. Oh wait.. we didn't have the neat small video cams back then..

they are loaded before we step off then we put our gloves back on and start the ceremony. Most the time the guns don't need gun oil because M1's work amazing and without jams unlike M16's sadly..
