SENTENCED HOME follows 3 Cambodian-American immigrants experiencing the effects of the newly revised immigration laws in the United States. Though these men were welcomed into America as refugees in the early 80s, the confluence of their non-citizenship (they are "permanent residents"), their minor rebellions as teenagers, and post 9/11 anti-terrorism laws lead to their immediate deportation. Filmed over the course of three years, filmmakers David Grabias and Nicole Newnham have captured intimate moments that crystallize the raw emotion and human impact of deportation, both in America and after they return to Cambodia. This unforgettable documentary is a remarkable and urgent story.

Appears "Gang Life" is a dead end, who in the World never learned that simple truth...I guess some learn lessons the easy way others the hard way ...you would think the deportees would have learned it by now, however watch their videos...see how they talk & act...time to clean up the act!

I know many Khmers who were in the gang life and flipped to do good for themselves and their family only to be deported for crimes way back in the day. The immigration law is bullshit and descriminates, they can't tell good people from bad no more.

This should not have applied to those who reformed themselves and became productive members of society. But to make the best of a bad situation, I'm sure these guys have an advantage in Cambodia and can revive themselves there.

there should be a deportation court, atleast give peoples a chance to fight for their chance to stay in the states. most of these guys have families, now they're being seperated from them. after all they grew up here in the US and don't really know anything about cambodia. also the US play a very big role in cambodia's disasters.
