why? the film didn't get the award, Meryl Streep did, BECAUSE of her flawless personation of Margaret Thatcher, how could she not win it?

Because there's so many Brits who hate Maggie's guts. And so this performance of Meryl's chills them to the bone, the way it brings Maggie back into their brains. They're having horrific flashbacks due to this performance.
