Dona Nobis Pachem 2010 . . .

This songs requests " Give to Us, Peace" . . .
But it is not solely up to a Higher Power -
it is up to Each and Every One of Us in our Daily Lives...
LET US BRING PEACE TO EACH OTHER
and so TO THE WHOLE PLANET.

i have loved this song since i was a child

however i have come to realize

that simply asking for peace is not enough

we must consciously ACT for peace

in our hearts and out thoughts

and in our relations with others
both near and far . . .

perhaps in 2010 and forevermore...

we can turn ourselves away
from the concepts of :

political maneuvering... and bureaucratic coldness

financial gain... and fleeting fame

power over others... and violence as actions

conflict, destruction,

and WAR...

perhaps
we can turn ourselves away from

those who spread hatred and create fear
in their speech and broadcasts

those whose aim is to separate us because of our differences
rather than bring us together because of our similarities

not similarities in race, or nation, or region, or religion...

but the most common of similarities
as brothers and sisters
as mothers and fathers
as the family of Earth...

to Love
to Live
to Help
to Give

A World divided will not know PEACE

WE ARE ALL INSTRUMENTS OF PEACE

So in hard times, when you are on the edge of the impropriety
Simply remember one word

Say it to yourself .. then ACT.

that word is simply...

" BE . . . "

and so
where there is hatred, BE LOVE.
where there is injury, BE FORGIVENESS.
where there is discord, BE HARMONY.
where there is deceit, BE TRUTH.
where there is doubt, BE FAITH.
where there is despair, BE HOPE.
where there is darkness, BE LIGHT.
where there is sadness, BE JOY.
where there is impatience, BE PATIENT.
where there is bitterness, BE SWEET.
where there is insecurity, BE CONFIDENT.
where there is frustration, BE HELPFUL.
where there is hurt, BE HEALING.
where there is worry, BE REASSURING.
where there is insecurity, BE CONFIDENT.

THERE IS NO END TO THE GOODNESS OF THIS LIST

WE ALREADY have the capacity :
to comfort rather than to be comforted;
to understand rather than to be understood;
to Love rather than to be loved.

WE ALREADY know in our hearts :
It is in giving... that we receive,
It is in forgiving... that we are forgiven.
and It is in Loving that one awakens to the true eternal energy...spirit...life.

REMEMBER:

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
...Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
...Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; ...Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
...Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; ...Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
...Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
...Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
...Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your soul;
...It was never really about you and them anyway...

so:
the day is at hand:
let us therefore cast away the works of darkness,
let us put on the shroud of light.
and Let us ALL, HOWEVER WE MAY TEACH BY OUR DEEDS

Yes! I was good at guessing what it meant before you told me the meaning!

I find it wierd that the root word pax/pacis was turned into "pachem" in "Give us PEACE". Latin is difficult.
