Sammy Davis Jr sings I'll Be Glad When You're Dead You Rascal You and then shows off his hoofing talents in several clips from the 1933 movie "Rufus Jones for President" which starred Ethel Waters. Two clips of her songs from that movie are also on this channel. Davis was only 7 years old when he made his singing and acting debut in the movie as Rufus. In this film, which was produced for black audiences only, young Rufus has just been elected President. Its still a free country for now so guess I'll leave the comments open and wait for the inevitable comparisons to BO. - Have fun.

  • Aside from the amazing performance, this movie shows us how far we have come in under 100 years. This was the best of film technology and production back then. Also, socially it shows how we've adopted more humanitarian views. It gives me hope for the next hundred. After all, What's next? War to be considered in-humane and in bad taste?

  • @lildestructicon Thanks for stopping by the 1920s museum and commenting. Hope you got as much pleasure out of this little "mini-movie" as I have. PH01

  • Sounds like the tune Ricky Ricardo's band played for Lucy when she thought she was dying of the "Go-bloots". hee hee

  • @judygrell It's no secret that Sammy Davis Jr became chunny with Anton Levay in the 60's and became a member of the church of satan. Mr Davis was quite open about it.

  • Thank you for this wonderful video!!!

  • @caloscalante1518: No disrespect to Sammy Davis Jr, but even if he was comedian on top of singing and dancing, it doesn't make Michael Jackson less talented or an inferior entertainer. (For one thing, they were both really talented already as kids.) They were just different entertainers for different generations. MJ obviously admired SD Jr though, as he wrote and sang a tribute song, "You were there", for him.

  • I'd also like to know where you got your info. re satan. Ridiculous. His religion was Jewish. He joked about that in his act.

  • That's right... your kids pale in comprison haha
