does anyone know what type of field recording mics he uses?

I dont know how specific you want but it say on wiki (which you have probably already seen) that they used omnidirectional microphones. I dont know if that is too broad to be of any help but anyways...

I absolutely adore the music of Amon Tobin and I have worshiped it for years. But, Foley Room has to be my least favorite album. Before it there were only two songs in any of Amon's albums that I could not listen to (Ol' Bunkhouse and Rhino Jockey) because they were a departure from the styles I liked. However, this album alone adds like five to the list, with the worst in my opinion that menacing "Always." Of course there are saving graces like the fantastic "Ever Falling" and "Kitchen Sink."
