This event was held in support of The Canadian Children's Book Centre which is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to encouraging, promoting and supporting the reading, writing, illustrating and publishing of Canadian books for young readers. This BC festival featured presentations by Shar Levine, President of the Children's Writers and Illustrators Society of BC together with BC science writers of books for children and youth: Cora Lee, Jude Isabella, Paula Johanson, Tanya Kyi, Shar Levine and Leslie Johnstone, Deborah Hodge, Claire Eamer, Adrienne Mason, Avis Harley, Maggie Devries. The keynote speaker was Dr. Jaymie Matthews, UBC Dept. of Astronomy and the Masters of Ceremonies was Dr. Ellen Rosenberg, from UBC Faculty of Science. Sharon Fitzhenry and Holly Doll talked about the Lane Anderson Award for Science writing and this year's award wining children's science book Insecto-files. This event was held in the UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum and Wes Wenhardt and Bep Schippers welcomed participants and arranged for tours of the museum.
