@SonofBrummieDarkness 'Our' is used here to mean the "country's" possession. Here is the oath of office from the 1868 Oaths Act.
"I, (Insert full name), do swear that I will well and truly serve Her Majesty Queen Victoria in the office of (Insert office of). So help me God." Every police officer says this.
Nowhere does it say "I will well and truly serve the interests of (insert private companies name)."

@SonofBrummieDarkness How about those who don't receive a fair wage, and therefor can't afford shares? Real wages for the average Brit haven't risen in real terms since Thatcher's reign, whereas the rich have seen their wages skyrocket..

and sold to the public? Did Nye Bevan have any inclination to profit from illness? Did Anthony Crosland wish to sell our education to us at, what is for many, extortionate fees? Thatcherism is in now way about picking yourself up, and making it big. Thatcherism prevents social mobility, that is a cast iron fact, and if you can present me a credible scholarly source that says otherwise, be my guest.

So the government has no responsibility to help those that cannot help themselves, due to decades of a total lack of opportunity? Here I was hoping that we were moving forward as a society, and not looking back to the 1820s! The public services only became private companies because Thatcher sold them, they are ours because they were established by governments that saw the necessity for these utilities. Did David Lloyd George intend water to be owned by an individual, ...
its a good reworking of the old Jacobite song...and very relevant even now, Thatchers not gone, her twisted hate filled, anti working class politics are very much alive and kicking....kicking the shit out of everyday working people while making sure that the haves continue to have.
