Xara Website Basics Part 1 of 2

People have been asking for a video like this for a while now. This is part 1 of 2. Making websites isn't as easy as it sounds for someone with absolutely no experience at all, because other tutorials wrongly assume people understand the very basics of webspace, internet websites, and how to handle the html files that Xara generates for you to get your site on the interwebs. How to start this completely from scratch is actually not obvious at all, as many people quickly find, and so they have difficulty even before they reach Xara. These videos guide the lay user from a state of zero knowledge, all the way through to creating a custom website from scratch and putting it online for the world to see. The videos cover other key website basics, such as creating navbars and optimising your site correctly for the highest performance online, and various other miscellaneous website features.

frst 13 minutes... pointless for someone who want to learn to use xara... becouse you have preview page in the xara.... becouse this is xara tutorial not how to upload and where to find free space on internet... bat after that 13 minutes... everything is fantastic so 4-5 rate ;)

@LAskeHosting Yes, I appreciate what you're saying. However, this was not just intended to be a Xara tutorial. Too often I'd seen people know how to use Xara, but not know about the basics of webspace. This is fundamental necessary knowledge and needs to be understood for any Xara website making to be meaningful, and so the first 13 minutes is critical for some people. If you already knew that material, then you're fortunate, because not everyone does and it's not obvious.

@LAskeHosting I also created a time index which clearly lists the content of the video, allowing you to immediately skip the background webspace discussion and jump straight to navbars and other directly xara-related material.

@PlanBActivated There's nothing in Xara to do that directly, but there might be a 3rd party widget or something that I'm not aware of.

Hello! I'm still not sure how this works. I already have an existing blog with Blogger and just want to customize a new template. How do I do this? Can't this program just give me the html code to upload to Blogger? Please help! :)

@XaraXhris Agreed. Various people have various levels of understanding about web design/ web development and how it works. The creation phase is just one major aspect. Hosting, space, applications and functionality are other seperate components of a website and everybody's adeptability level may/will vary. Xara seems more geared to designers and people who are layour and presentation oriented but arent so keen on coding and developing.
