@11thSSNordlandPzG many were conscripted and didnt even join the colours and i completely agree many did think it was their patriotic duty to fight for the German father land but does anyone know where I can get my hands on a repro volkssturm cuff title? love to start a late war impression im going ww1 at the moment, thanks!

@MrCalifornia95 i think its 1936 that they closed the loophole meaning that you had to pay subscription fees meaning that there was no excuse not to join :P my grandmother was as you've mentioned an orginisation valled the league of german maidens, my 2 great uncles were conscripted into army service in september 1944 and fought in Berlin against the russians and my great grandfather was fighting on the westfront at the same time so its great to see someone going it!

@Gool349 first off they are not nazis dude..they were civilans that enlisted in the volkssturm to help defend their country..and you wanna know who the REAL nazis are? they were the Gestapo,SD,Political Leaders...not the soldiers...not even the WH and SS was nazis.most of them didnt give a fuck about hitler or his politics. they just wanted to serve their country.
I dont know how old they are, but both look too young for Volkssturm. They would have fought in Hitlerjugend formations.

@MrCalifornia95 actually you are incorrect, the Volkksturm was taking young men as young as 12 at the very end of the war. Children even younger were being organized into Werewolf battalions during that time as well. Some as young as 10 were shot for being sabbotures. In order for you to be in the Hitler Youth, you had to prove your Aryan ancestry. Not every young girl or boy was HJ.

@osu67 since (1937?) there was a law that every german aryan girl or boy had to be in HJ or "bund deutscher mädel"

@MrCalifornia95 That's correct. But you had to PROVE ancestry which many could not. They were not HJ or BDM.

@DRKN98 pretty much, yep. well documented by the Germans. Russian children drove trucks and German youth were conscripted.
