Hummingbird Rescue!

Today I found this female hummingbird on my front porch. She seemed to be in a daze from slamming into the window. I picked her up to save her from becoming a cat snack. Thankfully, Ms. Hummingbird woke up from her daze and flew away!

Very cool to see one of these beautiful birds close up. They have the most amazing little feet and tiny little eyelashes.

@CommanderKairu - It is amazing to see these birds so close up. They weigh nothing! They have tiny little eyelashes, tiny claws....no bigger than my thumb. They are amazing birds! This hummingbird is the second one I have rescued. The first one was several years ago when we were re-screening our screened in porch and a hummingbird flew into the screen and got its beak stuck in the screen. I very carefully pulled the bird's beak out of the screen and let it fly away.

I've been hand rearing a baby blackbird for the last few weeks and its been wonderful to see it transform into a very pretty young female. I just hope she is not too attached to me when it comes time for release... :-s

It also happened to me. Took it to a vet and next day it was strong enough to fly away. It´s so small!
