@SuperPricil Hasidim tend to wear kaftans and other attire modeled after Polish nobility at such formal events. Look it up at wikipedia

@SuperPricil The Biblical aspect of their clothing is that they are modest in not revealing the body, the hair in front of a man's ears is left to grow (not rounded off), and the head is covered. The black coats, fur hats and white stockings are what was worn in Poland hundreds of years ago.
