After a five-year layoff, Van Zandt returned to the studio for one of his most solid, concise albums. "Flyin' Shoes" was released in 1978. The album features sympathetic, organic backing from greats like Chips Moman, Jimmy Day and Spooner Oldham. Included in this video are "No Place to Fall", one of Townes' most beautiful love songs, and the title track, "Flyin' Shoes". The two tracks are joined together by a little banter from Townes' old friend, Mickey Newbury. The Newbury excerpt is courtesy of San Francisco radio legend, Ron Lyons. A paganmaestro video.

  • Thank you so much for the post--I especially like Townes in this particular performance of Flying Shoes; it reminds me of Lyle Lovitt's tribute to him.

  • How do you get those sooo slow dissolves...They're magical.

  • Thank you Townes.

    Thank you Duke Lang.
