So helpful!! Now I know why my m1s made holes. I must say, your video tutorials are my favorite! Anytime I search for a new technique, I type in the name of the technique and 'very pink' so your videos come up! Thank you!!!

I would like for you to know that after having trouble making M1L and M1R. I have been trying to close the M1L and M1R and have tried about 100 toes and they always have the holes. The statement above just cleared it all up and I have just made my first perfect M1L and M1R. Thanks so much for your help.

Thank you so much for this video. It really helped me to understand how to make 1.
I am left handed and knit left handed. Would you be able to explain or better yet show me how to do a M1R and M1L knitting left handed?

@cpnesmith The stitch is the same whether you're right or left handed. The only difference is that you're holding the working yarn in your left hand. Search for my video "Lefties vs Righties" for more info.

when i work the M1 it is showing a hole in my work, am i not working my stitches tight enough?
TonjaTang 5 months ago
@TonjaTang It isn't about the tightness of the stitches. If you are not putting the correct twist on the M1 stitch, it will leave a huge hole. If you are, for instance working a M1 Left (picking up the bar from front to back) and knitting it through the front loop (instead of the back), it will leave a hole. Same thing if you're working a M1 Right (picking up the bar from back to front) and knitting it incorrectly through the back loop. Watch the video again to make sure you're getting it.

Thanks for clarifying this. Which way do you knit a m1 if the pattern doesn't specify and just indicates m1? Thanks!

@dlk6g If the pattern doesn't indicate which one to use, then it's your choice. Most people prefer M1 left, since it's a bit easier to work. (That's always my choice, too.)
