These Novelty Ragtime Xylophone pieces you are about to hear were composed by George Hamilton Green in 1926. Green was a xylophone prodigy, and these works were specifically composed for the xylophone. They reflect a jubilant, upbeat post-World War I and pre-Depression era America. The syncopated sounds of these tunes were meant to accompany dances such as the foxtrot, the two-step and the turkey-trot. The accompanying marimba parts were composed in the 1970s by mallet virtuoso Bob Becker.

As a Novelty Jazz Xylophonist, Morris founded the Speak-Easy Duo (Colin McAllister, guitar) in 2003 and has appeared at the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival in Boulder, CO, the Bohem Festival in Hungary, the Rotterdam Conservatory, the Orange County RagFest, the Breda Jazz Festival, NL, the West Coast Ragtime Festival, the Ragtime Xylophone Institute in Delaware, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and the Koninklijk Conservatorium, Den Haag.

Morris Palter has an album named, Novelty Ragtime Xylophone, and it is independently released. To order a copy, contact morrispalter@hotmail.com
