My string pegs wont even go in the guitar. What the hell, someone help please i need this for school

Just bought a 'beginner's guitar' in the mail... couldn't 'tune' the last steel string... brought it to a friend for my first lesson and he said it was way too tight, that something was wrong with the way it was gliding the frets or something, so even using an electronic tuner he couldn't tune it for fear it would snap and the unit itself was defective. So I went home and tried to re-tune it and sure enough it snapped and cut my finger, at least it wasn't an eye, praise God. TY for video/demo!

Thanks! I am a black dude who has no knowledge of guitars. My son wanted his to get new strings. I was able to follow this videos instructions and it made it easier.
