While waiting for 1996 to arrive, I went to Kismet. There I found two westbound trains stopped on the mainline. The signal at the west end of Kismet was red indicating there was an eastbound approaching. Watch how the dispatcher uses this 9000 foot long siding to let two trains pass one in the siding.

Talk is that when global 4 opens in August, traffic on this line will really increase. Saturdays are already very busy with 20-30 trains a day. It will be interesting to see how they handle the extra trains.

  • @AJ67901 Video Perfect! Great Video.Thanks info.Chris

  • @upconductorgmtx2113 Thanks Ken, I figured you must be working the other end as I hadn't heard from you in a while. I'd like to get over that way and see what that sub is like for sure. This fall would be a nice time to do that. Work has been so busy that I haven't made a video in over a month. Hopefully things will slow down soon and I can relax and do some railfanning. Take care

  • @kskcsfan I know how that can be. I went to the BNSF transcon this year on a Tuesday and drove beside it over 100 miles. Even with double track I saw only one train, but tons of MOW equipment. it was a wasted trip.

  • @AJ67901 It's not usually I saturday when I railfan that line. Most of the time it's just a spur of the moment thing where I'm near it and get the chance to and I just hit a dry spell in traffic. The part I go to is between Topeka and Herington.

  • @kskcsfan 15 more trains a day would be something to see. Why dont you have any luck on the UP on saturdays?

  • I noticed that Saturday was busy on the Tucumcari. (I don't usually have any luck when I railfan it). Back in 2008 it was said that 15 more trains a day will use the line when G4 opens.
