Is it a gas or diesel engine?

@StrassenbahnBenny All of our buses are diesel. Gasoline hasn't been used for a very long time due to fire .

It is an Amtran 66 passenger conventional, DT466e with an Allison 4 speed auto. Built in 1999 and has 141000 miles currently.

I think what you see is the light on the camera reflected in the windshield glass.
