Motorcycle Windshield (Refinishing)

This windshield is severley scratched up and swireled up to a point to where the visability is very poor.

What I am going to do with this is refinish it the same way I refinish headlights.

I will do a two phase sanding with 1200 grit and then again with 2000 grit wet/dry to smooth it out.

Once the sanding is complete, I am going to compound it out using a Meguires product called Diamond Cut #85. This is a POLISHING COMPOUND and not a RUBBING COMPOUND.

I will cut this out using a wool pad. A wool pad gives you the greatest cutting power over a foam compounding pad anyday. I also operate my wheel at about 2400rpm. Considerably faster than if I were working on paint at 1800rpm.

Once the compounding phase is complete, I will polish out the shield using an Ardex product called Stereo Glaze #2.
I will also swap my wool pad out for a Lake Country white polishing pad.
I also slow my wheel down from 2400rpm to about 1000rpm to effectively remove the fine scratches as well as the swirles from the plastic.
I also slow my motion down as well to acheive this

Once the polishing phase is done, I will apply a sealer to protect the plastic. Again, I use an Ardex product called Clear Coat Sealer #9200.
I will also swap my polishing pad out for a Lake Country gold finishing pad to obtain the finish I am after.
My wheel stays at a 1000rpm and my motion remains the same.
