If only this happened in daylight, it would have been so much clearer on the video. As it is, I've added some text so you can hopefully see what I saw.
First of all, a moped rider is almost taken out by a presumably unsighted oncoming right turning driver. This can be an unnerving junction and luckily the rider had their wits about them as they steered left and probably went two or three bike lengths down the side road to avoid going over the bonnet of that car. When they rejoined unscathed I was amazed. Had to check they were OK when I caught them at the lights and they seemed to be fine, which was great news. However, they kinda blew all those great reactions away when they promptly ran the very next red light. As did the car in lane 2, ever so slowly but ever so surely as they failed to keep even their rear wheels behind the stop line. As did the cyclist who went through at speed, possibly cursing me for being in their way as I waited for the green. And finally we have the driver who thought he could see enough of a gap between my bike and the car in lane 2 to squeeze through and gain a handful of feet, just to be a tiny bit closer to that red.

  • poor mr.moped.

    i find that if you're shaken up by a near miss it can lead to poor decisions in the next few moments. (eg accidental RLJ)

    it's best to pull over for a little bit.

    Yeah I felt for him after that incident but he seemed pretty un-fazed by it when I asked how he was. Stopping for a moment after something like that might not be such a bad idea though and let that adrenaline subside before you encounter something else that needs your proper attention.

  • There was a lot of activity within those 92 seconds. ; > }

  • Anything else go wrong this night!?

    Well, I pass through Ilford on my commute if that's what you mean. Still got a long way to go at this point though...

    A very close call for sure but I think I'd give the benefit of the doubt on it. That is a difficult junction for the oncoming driver to see through all that traffic for bikes. I tend to ride very carefully on the approach there, especially if there is a queue already built up. But I take your point, it does tend to reveal the more aggressive or frustrated driver does Romford Road.

  • Owwww 25 towards Ilford, i see you're a local boy than lol
