A follow-up video showing what's left on the analog spectrum following the final transition of all full-power TV stations in Columbus to digital. As you can see, it's not COMPLETELY a scorched-Earth landscape... just MOSTLY so.

For historical interest only, no ownership of any footage is claimed.

  • I know it's old, but there are still a few stations that come in if you have a decent antenna. I mainly remember 23 which is GTN. Sometimes I could get 18 or 19 but it was just religious stuff, also a channel in the 40s which was like a mexican shop at home thing.

  • Low-power and Class A stations were considered exempt from the analog switchoff for a few more years; I believe they have until next year to relocate or be switched off.

The Spanish-language channel you mention is probably 48 (WCPX), which was an Azteca America affiliate last I checked. I don't believe 19 (which was a repeater of Daystar, an Evangelical satellite network) still operates.

  • I don't know what kind of tower or transmitter analog channel 10 had , but they could easily be received , in the south Dayton OH area with nothing more , but a set of rabbit ears .

  • WBNS and (especially) WSYX had, I think, among the most powerful analog signals in Ohio. I had heard reports of people being able to pick up legible signals for 6 and 10 as far away as Athens and Marietta.

  • @TheKid965 This is true; I lived in Parkersburg, WV for most of my life and we would get channel 6 OTA. Interestingly, we would also get WDTV's signal (Clarksburg, WV) as well...I would watch static-filled "Garfield and Friends" Saturday mornings growing up. Oh...how I miss those days. :(

  • This could happen in the Philippines soon

  • Right now it seems like WSYX is the easiest Columbus station to receive in the Dayton area , but there are stories about them having coverage problems , in Columbus . I think they have plans on switching they're real RF channel from VHF ch. 13 to UHF possibly ch. 48 .

  • Yes in the early mornings and late at night I've received all the Columbus stations except WOSU . I also received WSFJ which is east of Columbus as well .

  • have you (or anyone else you know) tried receiving Columbus TV stations in south Dayton since the transition has taken place? I figure that Cincinnati TV stations come in without any problems in the south Dayton area also.
