In September 2010, StoryCorps partnered with NJN Public Television and Radio to bring a "MobileBooth" to West State Street in Trenton, right in front of the New Jersey State Museum and the State Library. For four weeks, people came up to the booth in pairs, went inside, and recorded an interview for posterity. They emerged with a CD in hand -- and with a valuable experience that will be preserved for the ages in the Library of Congress. The project was started in 2003 by Dave Isay, a MacArthur "genius" and five-time Peabody Award winner. State of the Arts producer Susan Wallner meets Isay and asks him about the beginnings of StoryCorps, now one of the largest ever oral history projects. She also meets some of the participants on StoryCorps' opening day in Trenton, including Reverend Barbara Brewer, the pastor of Interfaith Tabernacle in Trenton, and June Ballinger, artistic director of Passage Theatre in Trenton.
