Playing guitar (as I do too) will give you a good head start. However, bass does require some modifications, technical and in our mindset.

How important do you think it is in the long run to get all your fingers on the fretting hand doing near equal work? I find I'm getting lazy, going index/ring. Feel like I'm missing out on something.

If you feel you are missing out, then challenge yourself with something that requires the use of more fretting-hand fingers. See how that feels.
My view is that we should be ready for just about any situation. If we are not ready, the "doors get closed".

Do you use BEADG or EADGB tuning? I'm afraid I'm not exactly pitch perfect so I can't tell! Also what model bass is this you're using here?

The tuning is B E A D G and the bass is a Belman Classic (based on Lakland basses).
