Beach Nourishment Update 6/27/2011 - part 1

In part 1 we are at Milepost 20 near Oregon Drive and Surfside Drive. They have made considerable progress northward from Oregon Drive. The beach is open, but you have to walk behind the home with sandbags around it and reenter the beach from Surfside Drive.

In case you are wondering, there are stakes around the sandbags under that house, and the sand for beach nourishment will not go past those stakes. Under the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) you can't put nourished sand over hardened structures, which includes sand bags. It will be interesting to see how that looks when it is completed.

Part 2 will show what is happening around milepost 17.5
