Two Russian cosmonauts, Sergey Volkov and Oleg Kononenko, and an American space tourist, Richard Garriott, have landed safely in Kazakhstan after a mission to the International Space Station. It comes amid concerns that the current financial crisis could affect Russia's flights to the ISS.
Shuttle will not be able to land without landing strip. Capsule can land anywhere. Even in the ocean. And on other planets too :) Landing capsule looks impressive.

It's because shattles are out of resource to fly any more (it will be dengerous) and their new Orion will be ready only by 2015. They will fly russian spacecrafts.

Your country ran out of money, and after 2010 will not have space vehicles capable of human launch, for at least 3-5 years.

There were Buran (russian shuttle), make a research. But it was more expensive to fly at, and less safy.
Single-mission crafts don't need to be kept in order (more money than produce new one) and safier because it's new every flight.
I heard new american Orion will have parachute landing system like Soyuz.
Shuttles are smart and look cool, but single-mission crafts are better.
