@JackKangaroo1 Wrong. The Japanese were trying to surrender all the summer of '45 but Truman wouldn't listen because he wanted to drop the bomb to intimidate Stalin. 'They got what they deserved'. You should hear yourself.

"we won the war and that means we could demand an unconditional surrender any time we wanted."
Uncondtional surrender is NOT made any time you want. It's a precondition made before not after the outcome. Winning or losing is irrelevant which is why it was set right after Pearl Harbor. Our military didn't have your 20/20 hindsight so they opposed it & because Japan didn't demand it, it made it OUR war to the death. So if we'd lost, we'd end up like Nanking. You comprehend that, dipshit?

@bondurango Hey, we won the war and that means we could demand an unconditional surrender any time we wanted. What part of that do you not comprehend? Did we need to ask Japan's permission for the type of surrender we demanded? Are you perhaps mentally retarded? The Japanese were a barbaric warrior culture throughout the entire war. We dropped two atomic bombs on them that brought them to their knees. They got what they deserved. This ends our discussion.......dipshit !

@spacepirate777 Well now we're actually getting some intelligent observation on all this. I equate our two political parties to a couple of party groups on the Titanic arguing about the arrangement of the deck chairs as the ship sinks into the sea. Our ship of state is sinking also. As Ralph Nader has pointed out, we have a two-party duopoly running our gov't and both parties sold out to the same special interests a long, long time ago. We're really a northern version of a banana republic.

"Had they won, they would have most certainly demanded UNCONDITIONAL surrender"
Unconditional surrender is a precondition. You demand it before you win, not after. Japan never demanded it & our own military opposed it. Nor did they demand it in the Nanking massacre. Fact is, Chinese Nationalist General Tang Shengzhi announced to the press they would not surrender & would fight to the death. So get this, dumbass, 2 wrongs don't make a right & might does NOT make right.

@bondurango Well, dumbass, if the Japs wanted to surrender they should have SURRENDERED, get it? Basic reality, when you lose the war you don't get to make the terms. Had they won, they would have most certainly demanded UNCONDITIONAL surrender from the United States. And while you're bemoaning the "slaughter of innocent human beings" read up on the "rape of Nanking" and learn how the Japanese murdered 300,000 Chinese civilians in an orgy of violence in one city alone during WWII.

@torque122 Oh, you must be a member of the Josef Stalin fan club. Pity that the world has forgotten what a great guy he was. And he did so much for population control, you know, killing 20 million of his own people and all. What a shame that we somehow "double crossed" such a great leader, aye? Oh, by the way, your problem is obvious, however recent developments in medical science have now made it possible for you to have your head surgically removed from your ass.
Interesting how people like you constantly promote this "conservative vs. liberal" bullshit paradigm. Most of you don't even know the definition of these terms, and yet you associate yourselves with the one or the other. The political system in the USA is nothing other than smokes and mirrors my friend. A fake environment to give the appearance of choice.

This is the story that we're never taught. It's the truth.
