  • Can you provide more details about the custom fan mount you used to cool this machine. I just picked up this case and mobi and would like to be sure I am providing adequate airflow through the case.

  • @kolecke There's a thread on the XBMC forums that discusses moving the included case fan and using cardboard to channel / direct the air to the heatsink. It's the first search result for "silverstone lc19 ionitx-f-e"

  • Hi, it really can't run fanless here in Brazil... Temps are 75~80 now in summer and that's very bad for the hardware. I've even add 2 5cm coolers at the right side of the case but you get some bad noise and temp goes down to 60~65. What temp do you have it running? What is the outside (weather) temp? Does anyone know alternatives to solve the temp issues in this setup? I just LOVE the case and the board... however, temp can't go down... :-(

  • @gpborgesyt Its been a cold winter :). Have the fan exhausting air upwards. Also try removing the soft mesh grill on the cover too.

  • @ZOTACglobal Well, my last attempt to cool it down is to cut out 2.5 cm from the heatsink in its height and hook on top of it a Noctua NF-R8 80mm. Do you think if I cut 2.5 cm of the heatsink height it will still do a good dissipation? This cooler has a very good CFM + very low noise so I'm really think I'll be able to solve it doing this. What you think ZOTACglobal???? Let me know!

  • @gpborgesyt Cutting the heatsink will void your warranty.

  • I don't understand the part about the custom fan mount. I'm looking at picking up this board for my new HTPC, but I'm curious what I should watch out for while shopping for a new case. I don't see anything "custom built" inside the case (I expected some sort of Frankenstein modification)

  • This guy sounds very professional and these videos are informative! Thanks!

  • dual core Atom cpu? didn't catch what it was even after trying a couple times to watch the vid. nice htpc!

  • duuuuuude, XBMC!!

  • @ZOTACglobal yeah I know, but I'm at Brazil and will not ship it to US to get fixed if needed... Taking out the warranty lost, do you think it will impact much on the heat dissipation? Remember, I'm adding a NICE cooler on top of it...

  • @ZOTACglobal 40-50F ??? How come? That's is around 4-5 celcius.... What is the outside temp? I'll try to mount the cooler on top of the memory. Should I put the fan in which way? Blowing air or exausting it ? I think 2nd option right? Exausting through the top case roles?

  • @gpborgesyt Temps here are around 40-50F. Try setting the included fan on top of the memory, offset from the heatsink by a little bit. It provides enough air to keep the CPU happy for us. Also, don't put it in a tight space.
