Crews were dispatched to a reported fire in the area of 500 Madison just before 10pm, while crews were en route the dispatcher advised of a working fire. Battalion 4 arrived on scene and reported two fully involved 2.5 story brick vacant apartment buildings. He quickly upgraded to a box alarm response and shortly after mutual aid departments were requested to assist at the fire scene and fill in at city fire stations. Multiple lines were stretched along with deck guns and trucks to knock the fire down. There were no injuries at the fire scene

  • Still working with a skeleton crew there?

  • @KingG The firefighters were hired back, now they are working on getting their equipment up and running. This fire was short staffed because crews were working another fire on the west side of town

  • Wait was this on Wednesday or Thursday?

  • @dudeman21122 Last night, two burning at the same time here and one burning at 25th and Blaine. Crazy times as usual in good old Gary

  • @mabas21 am can you tell me where was the next video shot for the other fire! and by the way nice videos i am from the bahmamas and thank god we dont have fire like yall!

  • I remember Gary used to be able to provide up to a 2nd or 3rd alarm for quite a few years. Are they still able to??? Or have all the cuts caused them to only go as high as a box alarm and then they have to call mutual aid???

  • Lots of fire, who else went into the city besides Lake Ridge? Nice vid!

  • So, what is a "box alarm"? What was the initial response called and how does it differ from the box alarm? When is it called a 2-alarm, 3-alartm, etc.?

    Thanks

  • great vid.

  • Wow this is near my house. I heard all the sirens over a long period of time & knew that something was up, but I was too lazy to go outside. I logged in to send you a message to see if you knew what happned. When I went out to work this morning I could smell the smoke.

Woul have liked to have said hello to you.

  • @mabas21 nice who knows sometime we might meet up some time
