Trailer for a Swedish film. This appears to be the original US theatrical trailer, taken from a VHS source.

Director: Ingmar Bergman
Starred: Bertil Guve, Pernilla Allwin, Börje Ahlstedt

DVD: Widely released. Best version to get is the 5-disc Criterion release.

  • Nice! Incredible experience. When I said it left me drained I meant that in the most flattering way possible! It was remarkable! Sorry for the confusion. :)

  • Ah I see. Thanks for clarifying :)

  • Very good preview. Have it on tape but haven't watched yet. Heard its splendid, and I hope so given it was Ingmar's last theatrical feature. Although his tv film "Sarabande" did get limited cinema release and I saw it on the big screen. Thanks for posting!

  • This is one of my favourite films of all time! Really a great masterpiece that deserved all the awards it got.

  • Great movie!! I still need that Criterion 5 discer!

  • Really want that 5-discer too. Though Xtro said he found it a bit ponderous. Regardless, I think I'd still love it.

  • this is my favorite movie!!!

  • @shahoney Agreed, I had to look twice at the date to check it wasn't!

  • My theatre class is going to put this up:P I'm playing Helena:D

  • It only won 4 Oscars.

  • shit movie

  • @chaversolo00

That's a complete lie. Lucio Fulci never headbutted anyone, let alone Bergman.

where on earth did you hear such a thing?

  • I saw this when I was young. I couldn't stand 3+ hour films, but I looked at this thanks to the Z Channel. This is one of my all time favorite foreign films. I will admit I had to watch it a few times (there's a 3 hour version and a shorter one), but it reminded me so much of all those old classic Hawthorne and Dickens books we had to read in High School. This film has all those elements.

  • @shinyalbert I though the ghost of the father was very sad. I usually don't like ghosts, but Ingmar really played it well. The scene where the ghost speaks with the grandmother is very sad but beautiful.

  • Does anyone else think the main boy character in this film looks like Skandar Keynes?
