@TrustYourOwnInstinct Nor can I. Its one of the most soulful songs Elvis recorded in the 70's its a sparkling gem. There are people who rubbish this one on Elvis forums and I don't get that either. It was one of Elvis posthumous hits in the UK. Why rubbish or dislike something so beautiful an brilliant and do Elvis down in the process? Anyone who disikes this has no soul ...and no brain either.

First time I ever heard this song was on "Elvis and Beauty Queen" and a couple of days later found it on CD in a little record shop in Bury St Edmunds UK. Have always loved this song but did not realize BJ Thomas did it also.

"It's Only Love" is one of two titles I know of different songs done by Elvis and the Beatles. The other is "Tell Me Why". (I'm not referring here to songs like "Hey Jude", "Yesterday", and "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" that were recorded by both artists. I mean that they did entirely different songs that happened to have the same title.)

Written by Mark James and Steve Tyrell. The instrumental track was recored May 20, 1971 at RCAs Nashville Studios; Elvis recorded the vocal the next day, May 21, 1971. The single release had six week stay on Billboards Hot 100 chart, reaching a high of #51. It reached #19 on the Easy-Listening Chart, and sold over 1,000,000 copies. It was the A-side to the Sound of Your Cry.
