World Series Of Poker 2011 Episode 29 Main Event part 23 WSOP
When the board pairs, someone with AK or AQ might think they are now ahead for sure... and with A9 Giannetti had a 2 pair that beats AA22x so he's thinking what kind of hands would overbet, many are bluffs like missed draws or middle pairs that are trying to represent a flopped set. The over-sized bet sure got him thinking though, it's rarely a bluff nowadays.
@ucla198 I disagree. If Ben had just a paired ace, his plays would have made sense and I think that is what was going on in Gian's head. He would have bet the turn with a flush draw or with A2. I don't think there is anything to put Ben on a flush draw or on a 2, so what else could he have had? Trips?
@CyclonexxxIce I mean, he's only playing for what could be 8 million + making a call on a rough river card for a third of his stack. Haha, I'd take at least 10 minutes. His mistake was thinking he could get a tell off Ben Lamb....nope, impossible haha : )
Gian played it horrendously. He check calls flop with top two pairs on drawy board then cs turn allowing lamb to check behind. Gian should've bet river as a value/blocker bet. It's unlikely lamb would've tried to
Bluff. On the river Gian has only a bluff catcher against that overbet
@CyclonexxxIce not "aburd" at all.

@CyclonexxxIce: He is fully within his rights to take as long as he needs to call, it was a big decision

@cyclonexxxice why was it way absurd?

From watching this live apparently Giannetti took like 10 minutes during that river decision. They didn't mention it much here but it was way absurd.
