Lesbian Gamer girl who got banned from xbox live for violating simple terms of service rules, by advertising her homosexuality in her gamer profile and then complains to the press who rag on about it as if it's a gay rights issue is an idiot, and so are many of the bloggers.
here's an example of the story I'm talking about;
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/consumerist-self-identified-lesbian-banned-...
it's been reprinted and reworded on just about every major gaming site ... complete bullshit, but sure makes for a good beat-up and titillating headline right guys? yeah.

I do not give a rats ass if you're gay, nor should your personality be so desperately thin so as to somehow force you to BASE your very identity on your sexuality that you feel the need to advertise the fact on your gamer profile, get a personality and a life that's about more than the type of genitals you prefer to play with.

  • "Your sexuality is not who you are"

    I've never heard a more ignorant statement in my life.

    "Has nothing to do with who you are"

    That's when I stopped the video. Sexuality is a KEY part of who you are. It's not a trivial fact like hair or eye color, it defines your personality, especially if you're part of a persecuted group.

  • @Jonmad17 If you allow your personality to be "defined" merely by who you fuck I feel a great pity for you that you've nothing else about you that you think makes you who you are. Very sad indeed.It *IS* like your hair colour, it's not a choice you've made, it's not something you've worked to be, it's not something you've built up over years, it's not anything you've done or based of any experience you've had... it's just a preference for who you get naked with

  • @Jonmad17 You're gay...

  • Oh yeah?...well I don't mind if you're straight, just don't go flaunting it in public.

  • She shouldn't have posted that because others aren't going to indicate their straight so why should she say that?

  • @regemo You explained that perfectly!

  • I am a Lesbian Gamer and PROUD. And i'll post that wherever the fuck i want 2!

  • If stating sexuality is a bad idea because of homophobia, then perhaps i should paint myself white because of racism, or deny my parents are muslims because of Islamophobia. This man has a "problem" with people verbalising their sexual identity- personally i don't consider including your sexual identity in a user name a form of "shouting it out." This just another "keep it in the bedroom" closet bigot who can't contemplate the truth that sexuality may be about more than who people sleep with.

  • There is a need for censorship of the public word. Threats, inciting violence and intolerance has no room in a civilised discussion. Powerful ideas don't spring up from small groups, they emerge from the meeting of cultures and thoughts. I can't simply just tolerate but ignore anything I might dislike, that would lead to stagnation and crystallisation. In a civilisation, you can't live as an isolated tribe. At some point, you have to acknowledge that you are dependent on an organic structure.

  • It's an interesting question. Does this mean I have to keep my liking of girls (as a male) hidden when playing? Can I mention my religion (none, atheist)? It might void conflicts, but it also halts open discussion. It's too easy on the Internet to find your own island of like-minded individuals and sit out your existance, confirming the worldview you have. The human experience lies in the meeting with the other. Is an expression of love such an irritant that it needs to be purged?

  • That being said, was it a tactical move of her? No. Was she in the wrong to express completly normal cultural behaviour of identifying yourself? I think not. An interesting question for debate is whether or not Microsoft and other policymakers with such influence on their own communities should rethink their model of one-size-fits-all for a network of people of different backgrounds. I can promise you that a member of the Yir Yoront and yourself would disagree on many matters of identification.
