  • $75000 sounds nice, I dont really like the sound of sitting behind a desk on a computer all day and answering the occasional phone call ;)

The more tickets you get the more interesting the trade becomes I dont think of it like, Im going to be running beads all day long it just doesnt roll through my mind like that at all.

  • Welding is great. i loved it while i was going to school for it, going back though to finish up. make a living off this welding stuff.

  • lol if they make it that far, watch them die from asmah

  • Weldings fun. Its pulling lines, carrying your wire feeder, cleaning the base metal, grinding, preheating, and working in tight spaces that make it difficult. Try working at a shipyard, more or less the largest one in the world.

Totally worth it. I work on the US Navy's new carrier everyday.

  • From what I've seen of the 'next generation' of welders I'm not impressed. These kids get some kind of welding degree and need to be trained when they get on the job. Once they are trained they're pushed to produce, which they try to do but at the cost of sacrificing quality. We then go behind them spending more time to clean up their work.

If you want to weld take pride in what you do and speed will follow.

You're not going to start at the top but prove yourself and you will make it.

  • Where are the Welding Jobs Now? I Have 20 years Experience as a Tool & Die And Mold Welder. I use to bring Home 1,200 Dollars a week. Now I'm Unemployed and the only welding Jobs that are around only want to pay 12 to 15 Dollars an Hour. I hope thing get Better.

  • i put myself through welding school fulltime got my certs got fairly good at it and still cant find a job because they want experienceand thats my secondary career so i really think is theyre plan to ship jobs overseas anyway but they cant ship pipeline or structural just manufacturing right?i mean whats the most secure in welding ?i like stick and fluxcore guess ill go toward structural guess its just slow right now

  • oops... of not f and smartest not smartes..

    sorry for that folks

  • you mean t tell me you are in Portland, and you can't find a job? Isn't there a pipeline somewhere around there? Go to the pipelin and the money will come to you.

  • All I have to say is that the people in the field are the ones that catch the mistakes of the people in the office. So when you start your drawings, make sure you don't draw a pipe going through a storage tank. Don't draw pipe and air duct running in the same place. And if you design pipe to be hung from the ceiling, make sure you take into consideration the weight f whatever liquid will be flowing through the pipe. Engineers are the smartes dumbest people I know.

  • You know the Air Bus were talking about moving their assembly to China
