Nick Cave acts as a saloon singer in Andrew Dominik's movie "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" (2007).

  • No wonder he didn't even bother trying to shoot Nick, the bullet would have just crumpled on his features, just like Superman.

  • That this wasn't included in the soundtrack is inexcusable.

  • I love how all you have to do to make Nick Cave look like he’s in the 1800s is to put a hat on his head and HEY PRESTO, he’s an Old West singer.

  • @MultiOzzer It wouldn't matter if he shot him in the front or back, he would die nevertheless and his family would then mourn his death.

  • This is an old American folk tune that has been covered numerous times. Good versions of it can be heard on Ry Cooder's soundtrack for The Long Riders and The Pogues' Rum Sodomy & the Lash LP. (Cave is a big fan of Shane MacGowan and the old Pogues.)

  • This stuffs made in NEW YORK CITY?!!.....get a rope.

  • @chuck1990bb I never put much thought into that but your absolutely right. Its subtleties like that just goes to show how brilliant of a movie this is.

  • pete doherty sucks dont compare him to nick cave ever

  • @whsonic This song wasn't written for the movie.

  • @SlingBlade79 The movie is based on true events, meaning some are true and some are not. Sure he might have fought somebody at the theater, but whos to say he didnt get the shit beat out of him from the start? They even stated in the movie that there is no "life story" of Robert Ford really that can be accredited as pure facts. Jesse James, William H Bonney, and the rest of them were cold blooded killers until they "found their peace" with the world. they would take any chance to kill someone

  • @natureandchaos

    Doherty isn't fit to lick Cave's shoes. And I'm a Libertines-fan...

  • @broidery first guitars arrived in North America by way of the Spaniards around time that St Augustine was settled, as vihuelas. That was the 1500s. Nick's playing a direct descendant of the vihuelas in this- a "gut" strung "Spanish" guitar. Thomas Jefferson wrote the neck notes of a 6-string down for his granddaughter in 1815. CF Martin (the great Martins) company history goes back to 1833 making.. yes... 6-string, gut strung Spanish style guitars, just like what's being played.
