A white supremacist group upset that actor Idris Elba, a black man has been cast as Heimdall in the upcoming 'Thor' movie, wants it boycotted reports UK Guardian.

The Council of Conservative Citizens, which opposes interracial marriage and also calls Martin Luther King a "left wing agitator" and Communist has set up a website, boycott-thor.com.

They accuse Marvel Comics of inserting "social engineering into Greek mythology, casting a black man as a Norse deity." The group also claims the comic giant used "Captain America to attack the Tea Party movement," in 2010.

Elba, an English actor who is quite familiar to American fans after starring in 'The Wire', 'Obsessed', and 'American Gangster', thinks the controversy is ridiculous.

Great grammar moron. In Norse mythology, there are no Negros. Santa, Egyptians and Jesus were not Negros. When Spike Lee-roy portrays Malcolm X using a white actor or we re-do the Color Purple or Roots using whites to depict black slaves you might begin to understand. You are one stupid man. Of course the KKK or whatever will boycott the movie, but there are people (many people and myself included) that wants it boycott because Heimdall WAS white in the religion and it seems very strange that a black man would be Heimdall in the movie.....

There is NO speak of racism about it!!

Idris may be a great actor, but he isn`t the only one. I think that they could have found someone else very easy.

This is pure weakness and fear from the creators of Thor.

Why some people get so worked up over what is little more than a fairytale, has always amazed me. First of all i really enjoyed watching the movie and thought the movie was great.

I don't care that much about Heimdall was played by a black guy but the movie fails when it comes to a history point of view just because of the fact that every god in nordic mythology is white. How would it be if Hitler was played by a black guy or maybe put Jesus as black? When you're making a movie from books that have historical value you have to have everything right.

@mnlkthms @mnlkthms your failing to understand, its about culture not hollywood or fantasy, its based on an ancient religion in which the gods were white... it would be the same issues if a black guy or white guy played buddha or a chinese man played jesus, or to take it even further a white guy playing an african god of some sort... now im not familiar with that culture but im sure tribes with no contact with whites would not perceive gods as such, as with the norse gods, get what im saying?

@ELawshea People(Marvel readers and Norse people) don't want to see a man of African origin play a Norse god just like they don't want to see a Irishmen with bright red hair playing a Norse god(they much prefer blond.).

It's not because of skin colour,it is to do with ethnicity.
