Sweet riff man, keep rockin

what kind of mods did you do to your amp

I was thinking about buying a so cal 50. I have two 4 ohm cabs (together would be 2 ohms load) and was thinking I could plug them into the two 4 ohm inputs. However, I saw another amp with this set up and you are supposed to plug either one 4 ohm cab or two 8 ohm cabs into the 4 ohm inputs. Two 8 ohm cabs would be a total of 4 ohms impedance. Is the so cal 50 the same? Thanks

its not so much the speaker, lots of people switch them out in the valve jr
its the tubes

hey im getting a new amp but it can't be too pricey, neither does it have to be really loud.

get an overdrive pedal

is it loud...is it good is..it worth it

hey, great tone, just got a valve junior with a multivox 2x12 speaker cabinet. Was wondering how you swapped your components to push the volume of your valve state. I looked up some speakers, new tubes but how do you change your transformer, your input impedance and the resistance to gain? Would getting a 4x12 speaker cab push my gain, or hurt this amp because of the ohm count? I am a little lost on how to push my volume. thanks for any info or help.

Great sound! I'm thinking about stickin' one of those speakers in my AC15.

Generally speaking I think most heads designed to work with a full stack (i.e., high powered heads, 50W+) will have several outputs for each impedance to connect up multiple cabinets.
My Epiphone So-Cal valve head has two outputs for 4 ohms, 2 for 8 ohms but annoyingly only one for 16 ohms. However, being 50W a 4x12 is plenty enough to handle it!
Hope this helps.
Nice playing, great tone coming from that Epi. Who did the mods for you? Are they bitmo mods?

I did them. no, no kits, just component swaps. just changed up the input impedance and the gain resistors. the speaker is an eminence private jack- which is an awesome speaker.

could i gig with a epiphone valve jr full stack

if you play gigs where you mic your amp and have some sort of monitor system then yes. If you mic it then just put it wherever you need for you to hear it, and let the soundman deal with front of house. If you use your amp to project to the crowd then a little more horsepower is probably going to be in order.
