HOK Chairman Bill Valentine talks about the design of King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The airport opened in 1983. Visit hok.com and hoklife.com.
The airport in essence is well constructed and orginized. In the 80's it was functioning well as movements were well controlled. Now, it's not the same, in my opinion because of lack of proper planning and marketing. Still this is not designed to be a real transit and connecting hub and as such doesn't offer much of what the internationla traveller needs. No doubt it's design is one of a kind.
