Last year, I participated in the Sketchbook Project 2011 - a huge collaborative project with over 28,000 people registering to fill a Sketchbook on a theme and send it in on time to be included on a US tour. If you'd like to view the pages I did, visit the digital library hosted at the Art House co-op (address above). This was the first time I had ever worked in an art journal and it was such a good experience for me that I also signed up for the Sketchbook Project 2012. I received a slightly smaller sized journal, but with thicker paper and custom designed for the project. A booklet with an introduction and rules were included. The idea is you register online, choose a theme, then work in your sketchbook and send it back to the Art House co-op by the deadline. All of the sketchbooks are bar coded and when returned, enter the Brooklyn Art Library (home of the Art House co-op). The Sketchbooks are also taken on tour as a travelling art exhibit. In 2012 in is a World wide tour.
