  • I KNOW WHAT YOU GOING THROUGH. I HAVE SICKLE CELL AND WHEN I GET SICK AND HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL IT BE THE SAME WAY. I BE FEELING LIKE THEY DONT CARE BECAUSE ITS NOT THEM. I GET SO SICK SOMETIMES TO I CANT WALK,IT HURT IF I MOVE. I HATE IT BUT ITS MY LIFE AND I GOT TO KEEP DEALING WITH IT. I JUST WISH THE DOCTORS AND NURES UNDERSTOOD OUR PAIN.

  • @PreciousMe03 i totally agree with u, its just a battle to keep going but what we must do is be our own advocate and let God lead us

  • Hi, my daughter was diagnosed with sickle cell (she's almost 3 months old). I've been searching the net about this disorder. Apparently it is more of a nutrient deficiency than a disease, and there are foods that are staples in the African diet that can lessen a crisis, like cassava. I've been eating some of these African staples and breastfeeding her, praying she never has a crisis. If you're able to benefit from any of those foods, please post an update. Thanks!

  • @PreciousMe03 I have it as well. And too many nurses are cynical.

  • It hurts me to see you like this. If you ever feel this way, you can always call me.

  • @PreciousMe03 i know what she going through the cause i have sickle cell ss and it a lot more than the others

  • @xcaramel24 I know how you felt. Back in late March i went in for my fourth time with a crisis and fever of 102, a sinus infection and a lung infection. They put me on quarantine for pertussis, too. I was on Oxycontin and Vicodin and on a breathing treatment. 5 days later, I was admitted again for a swollen spline and had to wait to see if I was going to get it removed. I didn't, but they put me on Oxycontin, Vicodin, and Morphine. Now, I'm just bracing myself for the winter.

  • God bless

  • @xcaramel124 Yes u right we just got to keep him in our life! And just pray about it.

  • I did some research on this. There is a theory with a lot of good evidence from Africa to back it up. Sickle cell is not a disease, it is an adaptation to make Africans more resistant to Malaria.

The crises occur because of a nutritional deficiency in Africans when they no longer eat traditional foods. The substance missing is a class of compounds called Nitrilosides.

They are found in cassava, yams, millet, peach seeds, cherry seeds (inside the hard shell).

Most fruit seeds contain it too.
