Actually, this is four minutes long.. I allowed myself only one extra minute since Im covering two films.
From a list of my favorite films of all time -create a 3 minute tribute... Not a trailer & not the movie in short form!
This is number 3 of 20 ; Halloween & Halloween 2
OK, A lot have been written about the differences between these two films. Where The first film has so much praise heaped upon it, it has become God-Like in it's place in Film History.. while the second one is trashed completely...
I like each film for what they are. And If I watch the first one, I'm sure I'm going to drop the other shoe and watch the second film right after.
On a side note... I first saw Halloween during it's NBC premiere on Oct 30, 1981 ( a friday night ) I was 11 and it did scare the hell out of me... 2 days later, My Father took me to see Halloween 2 in the theater... and it blew my mind that the action did not stop. So Halloween 2 stayed with me more than one.
On a side SIDE note: One of the foundations of one of my longest friendships is with my friend Kris, who, when we first met, discovered we had a kinship with our love of Halloween 2: specifically the moment when Michael stands up in frame after cutting open the Marshall's throat. ( 3:42 in the video ) For us, it's the ultimate moment of cool and awe. We refer to it as "The Stand Up."
We met Dick Warlock, who portrayed Michael in H2, And we asked him about "the Stand Up" He seemed amused we found something so simple to be exceptional. He told us it was a Yoga trick with his legs in a scissor position and then lift up.
Another consideration: Some movie reviewers who compare H1 to H2 often cite Carpenter's camera set ups Vs. Rosenthal's. While it is true the director calls the shots on camera placement... both films were shot by Dean Cundey ... and I believe H2 follows H1 with the same spirit... And that's why I edit these things! I love the composition of the action in the frame!
And lastly... The opening credits sequences are effective for both films.... While the original was subtle, H2's splitting jack-o-lantern is amazing... Ever wonder how BIG that thing was - to be able to light it and push a camera into it?
Excellent video, great work.

Where did you find those deleted scenes?
WillYouDoTheFandango 3 years ago
The 'deleted scenes' were filmed during the production of Halloween II to fill out the two hour time slot for the original airing of Halloween on NBC (10/30/81)
They are widely available on DVD on different special editions of Halloween from Anchor Bay.
You can find more information about it on the net.
