Entertainment reporter Tim Estiloz profiles the classic 80's TV show, Miami Vice. Miami Vice revolutionized TV cop dramas with it's groundbreaking blend of pop music soundtracks, fast paced editing, designer clothes... and, most of all - it's gritty, often violent depiction of the drug and vice trade in Miami.

The show was a pop-culture phenomenon worldwide... and made it's stars Don Johnson and Philip Michael-Thomas household names. The show's classic look and structure set the pace for TV action dramas back then... into today.

This story was written and produced by Tim Estiloz. It originally aired on the TV entertainment program, Backstage - seen on CN8 The Comcast Network.

  • Why they don't make shows like this anymore?!

  • "Freeze! Miami vice!" The cop show equivalent of "Beam me up Scotty." However unlike the latter the MIAMI VICE catchphrase was actually said on the show.

  • Wish that look were still around. Compared to baggy pants and grills!

Bring back the pastel colors. Brighten things up.

Who wears a toboggan in the summer?

  • Every show from csi to house uses the Vice ending. Slow motion shots, flash editing, & little to no dialogue in the last 5-7 minutes of a episode

what are u talking bout? Blaming a tv show for miami's crime rate? That's like blaming the godfather for the mafia! Art imitates life, not the other way around.

  • Every damn show from csi to house uses the miami vice ending. You know, we've all seen it. Last 5-7 minutes of a program, little or no dialogue, slow motion shots, flash editing. It's simply overdone now, but back in the 80's it was incredibly innovative.

My fav show of all time, Mann is a genius!!!

  • I'm watching Season 3 currently, only have up to that one so far, the latter half of this I do remember in Season One's supplement. Love this show over all the others, then and now!!!
