The tagline "just slightly ahead of our time" is even funnier when the product being advertised is a VCR you can program via pay phone.

One of 13 Nostalgia-Heavy Commercials to Make You Pine for 1987:

  • wow. making your child obsolete. BEST VCR EVAH!!!

  • you can program it with your phone? holy crap that is cool! there are plenty of times where I have left the house and forgot to record something , and I would think about how cool it would be to call my vcr and set it to record from the keypad.

  • @Nza420 Or a touch-tone phone. And it can probably be from any land-line as well.

  • Shit, and all I have is a rotary payphone :(

  • gods we had one of these! the penthingy always messed up! it was such a pain to use!

  • ditch the new tagline "Ideas for Life" and stick with the old one which said "Just Slightly Ahead of Our Time" when Panasonic comes out with HDTVs and Blu-ray Disc Players.

  • Good day

I have 1 of this years models PV-3700-K. It needs repair, but looks mint!

It is small compared to other models during that time..

Their tv's were also good at that time..

Yes I have the same era working tv

  • sometimes is okay to use a phone to program the vcr.

but i mostly set up a timer recording in menu try it out today.

  • @DisneyBlackJet What about regular DVDs? I feel like VHS to DVD was enough and instead of DVD to Blu-Ray, rather just go online for streaming. And it's God's country to be stuck in the past; the rules are closer to God's message, people use correct grammar/spelling/punctuation that their teachers taught them and not rebel and "break the rules". I'm staying in the 20th century and I'm proud about it!

  • "HA!" to the description .

  • @0neofthem It's okay. :-)

  • @DisneyBlackJet sorry that you're stuck in the past
