Lucy Meacock visits UCLan

Students from the MA Broadcast Journalism Degree were given an insight into the life of a Television News Presenter when Lucy Meacock from ITN and Granada Reports recently visited the Preston Campus.

Lucy, who has interviewed many famous names including Prime Ministers Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and John Major, gave students the benefit of her 25 years experience as a Journalist and Presenter on both local and national news programmes.

She was keen to stress the importance of being able to adapt to a fast changing industry, and having a thorough grounding in Journalism before attempting to become a presenter.

Speaking about the Honorary Fellowship that she was awarded from UCLan in December 2009 Lucy said It was the most fantastic feedback that she could ever receive and that it created a bond with the University that was very important to her and she hoped to build upon.
